Pitch a story

Silver Music Spotlight welcomes thoughtful pitches about songs, musical ideas, instruments, recording, traditions and listening. Send proposals through the Contact page; a clear angle matters more than an elaborate pitch.

What fits

We are interested in evergreen pieces that give a general reader something specific to understand or notice. A useful pitch might explain a musical choice, compare distinct approaches, describe a tradition with care, or offer a fresh listening prompt.

Make the pitch concrete

Tell us the proposed subject, the central question and what readers will take away. Show how the piece differs from a broad overview, name any specialist terms that need explaining, and mention the sources or expertise you expect to draw on without overstating them.

What to send

A short proposal is enough to start: include a working title, a paragraph on the idea and a brief note about your relevant experience. Do not send a complete draft unless requested. Proposals are sent through the Contact page.

Our listening stance

Curiosity is a good place to start listening

There is no test to pass before enjoying a song. We offer clear ways to notice its choices, with room for different ears and tastes.
